Vice President John Legris introduced our speaker, Maya Smith, Executive Director of the YMCA of Greater San Antonio.

  • For Healthy Living
  • For Social Responsibility
Maya shared packets of information about everything that the Y has to offer - and it's a LOT!  The Mays Family YMCA at Stone Oak has the largest youth sports program in San Antonio and the USA! 9,000 children are served every year. Haven for Hope Early Childhood Center is funded by the Y. Participants must be either in school, looking for a job or have a job. Maya said, "We're proud we're part of it." Kids Advisory Board is a new program where kids learn to give back and help others. "It's really impactful to do a hand-up." The Mays Family YMCA is financially sound and runs "in the black." It has what Maya affectionately calls from "the womb to tomb" programs. People of all ages can benefit from the Y!  The Y has a close relationship with the Roy Maas Safe Place where children can go in a crisis situation.
