To get us into a festive spirit, a Virtual Holiday has been planned for Dec 17 at 7:30 pm on zoom!

Survey to club membership about meeting again in person beginning in February. Ballot to come from Destiny. Board will get a clear idea on club comfort level about meeting in person. Will be in a google format – will be able to click your answers and submit. When we meet in person again we will also live stream so people who are uncomfortable to meet in person can still participate.

 

During our last Board Meeting for the Foundation we considered a list of charities we will support this year. Treasurer Fred Timmons has list.  Our club historically supports many local charities benefiting women, children and veterans just to name a few.

 

The Board approved awarding two $2500 nursing scholarships.

 

The Board also approved $6000 for our portion for matching grants for Nueva Rosita Water Project.  Rick Rhodes announced that both grants have been tentatively approved. Will be moving ahead with the initial $6000 in tbe near future so that the middle school project can move forward.

 

Bruce Richter pointed out that there are other ways that we can help to support charities.  He recommended asking the organizations if club members could donate useable items such as beds, furniture and household goods.  Some organizations also welcome volunteers.

Nueva Rosita Water Project
Two Mini Libraries, an initiative of District Governor Xavier Toson.
 
The Nueva Rosita Rotary Club and Coronado San Diego Rotary Club met with OHRC recently. Linda Wood of the Coronado Club shared 2 wonderful power point presentations about the water project. We are committed to helping 2 schools in Nueva Rosita – an elementary and middle school.
 
Don’t forget nominations are open for next year 2021-2021. We need to get the nominations to the district soon.

Coffee Friday – Starbucks seems to have closed dining rooms again in responds to the coronavirus spike. Won’t meet this Friday – may be next Friday. Details to come!
 

Stuart Dudley
Our friend and fellow Rotarian, and longtime Treasurer, Stuart Dudley – currently in the hospital – had a fall recently and hurt his shoulder. He is pending surgery. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Members who wish to send their care and write a card have been provided with his contact info.  Please contact Mary Denton if you need anything further.
