President Rick Tarbell introduced our club member and speaker today, Jacqueline (Jackie) P Parsons, PhD, LPC. "With adversity comes opportunity." Jackie believes it is a great thing to be a Rotarian to be of service to our community.  She  us for commended us for supporting Communities in Schools because of the number of children that are helped. She shared a lot of data about how isolation is affecting society.
Child abuse is escalating - calls calls have increased 400%. Most people live paycheck to paycheck and are now facing job loss. People are under stress and having to care for parents and/or children with no relief. Many in the medical field and social services are restricted from coming into contact with people who need help the most. Haven for Hope and the Battered Women's Shelter are having to abide by the distance rules and are running out of room. Many people are being turned away. Law enforcement is not going into homes and not going after speeders or responding to domestic calls. As Rotarians Jackie encouraged us to donate to worthy organizations who are able to help and support people in need. To learn more go to her website: www.DrJParsons.com
