Brenda Jackson introduced our speaker, Leticia De La Rosa, Project Facilitator and Director of Community Programs with Palo Alto College. Mission is "To inspire, empower, and educate our community for leadership and success." Leticia was raised on the southside of San Antonio and has been with Palo Alto for 10 years. She oversees the Adult Learning Program. In 2019 10,000 students were enrolled. Palo Alto offers early college high school whereby a high school student is able to get their GED with an associate's degree.
The college tracks statistics and reports them. In 2018 Palo Alto was ranked #2 nationwide #1 in Texas. San Antonio is the #1 city with the largest income disparity. Statistics prove that education is directly related to income. "Where we come from does not determine our success - it's up to us." says Leticia. In order to make higher education more affordable the GED Fabulous Holiday Brunch raises funds each year to assist students seeking their GED and transitioning to college. This year
With us today also was Martha Trevino, founder the Fabulous Holiday Brunch Scholarship Fundraiser. Martha is Interpretor of Immigration Court with the USDOJ.
