Business Lunch Program
Vice President John Legris introduced our speaker today: Sgt 1st Class, US Army (Ret.) Anthony Strickland. He spoke to us about his deployments. He has been stationed at Fort Hood TX, Fort Stewart GA, Fort Sill OK, Fort Eusits VA, Fort Riley KS, Fort Rucker AL and Korea. He was deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo, Bosnia and Kuwait. He elected to not bring a powerpoint presentation but rather show some of the many awards and commendations that he has received for his military service. Pictures of some of the items are featured under "Read More" section of this bulletin. He spoke about a few of his experiences while serving.  He seemed to have no fear and faced many close calls for his personal safety. He admits to always being willing to do a job but he described himself as "sometimes ornery".  We see him as brave and willing to serve his country well.

Thank you, Anthony, for speaking to our club today and for your military service!

A book in honor of our speaker will be donated to the Locke Hills Elementary School Library.

Thank you, Gloria Richter for your book donations this month! Gloria is also donating books for the month of March. She has chosen books focusing on stories about American Indians.

Show Low Pot and Raffle

Our show low pot today was $150. John Legris introduced our wine offerings today, both from Texas vineyards: Llano Harvest Meritage Red Blend and Llano Riesling.  He said both are from the region where Gloria Richter grew up.  The first ticket drawn was owned by Bil Trodlier who had a chance to draw the 2 of clubs and win the pot.  Unfortunately he drew the 4 of clubs. As a consolation prize he took home the Reisling.  Ken Ruiz owned the second ticket drawn and took home the red wine. Mary Denton donated a bag of popcorn which was raffled - Rick Rhodes held the winning ticket.  Ken Donoughue donated some Outback Steakhouse coupons and the winners were Joe Montagna and Mary Denton.

The wines for this month were donated by Ken Ruiz. Thank you Ken!
