Prayer, Pledge and Visitors Vice President John Legris opened the meeting with the ringing of the bell. Ken Donoughue led us with a word of prayer and the pledges. Vice President John Legris introduced our guest speaker and guests today. Joining us were Sharon Timmons, wife of Past President Fred Timmons, Bill Been, owner of Myron's Steakhouse, Heather Russell, daughter of Stuart Dudley, and Past District Governor Stephanie Macchia. This lively group attended our Happy Hour on Feb 20. Ken Donoughue, Ken Ruiz, Rick Rhodes and John Legris were spotted at a new place called Europa! It is where the old Bicycle Club was on Fredericksburg Rd. Next Happy Hour will be March 19 at the Flying Saucer on Huebner Road. Coffee fellowship will be on Fri, March 13 at Einstein Bagels at University Heights on DeZavala. The address is 12730 W IH 10. Basura Bash 2020 was once again a success! This year's hard workers were: Allyson Hamlin, Ken Donoughue, Libby Toledano - Clark Interact Club, John Legris, Joe Montagna, Stuart Dudley and Barry Abrams. Past President Fred Timmons presented an award on behalf of our club to Bill Been, owner of Myron's Steakhouse for being one of our sponsors for our 2019 Gold Raffle. Thanks to you, Bill for helping make last year's event a huge success! Today in History 1945: during the final phases of World War II, U.S. Marines invaded Iwo Jima so as to wrest control of the strategically important island from the Japanese, who put up fierce resistance in the ensuing battle. 1968: “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood,” created by and starring Fred Rogers, makes its network debut on National Educational Television, a forerunner of PBS, beginning a 31-season run. Pass the Hat this month goes to Kendall Robotics Business Lunch Program Our guest speaker presented some very interesting information to us today. We donated a book in our speaker's honor to the Locke Hill Elementary School Library. Thank you Gloria Richter for donating books this month! Her chosen subject was about the American Indians. Show Low Drawing Vice President John Legris presented our two wine offerings today: (red) Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon and (white) Casel Garcia Vinho Verde. Ken Donoughue owned the first ticket drawn and had the opportunity to draw the 2 of clubs to win the $200 pot. As luck would have it, he drew the 10 of diamonds. He chose to take home the red wine. Our guest Heather Russell owned the second ticket drawn and took home the white wine. Next week's guest speaker is scheduled to be Dr. Reg Culley of the Airrosti Clinic in Boerne. FYI: Our regular club meeting on March 4 will NOT MEET at the Outback Steakhouse. We are tentatively planning to meet at Hallmark University located on IH 10 West.
