Happy Hour in October was well attended at the Flying Saucer on Huebner Rd. The next Happy Hour will be Nov 21 at 5:30 pm. Usually the 3rd Thursday of the month.

Coffee Friday was also well attended at Alamo Biscuit Company on Huebner Rd. The next Coffee Friday will be Nov 8 at 8 am. Usually the 2nd Friday of the month.

Morgan's Wonderland Report
Jerry Hardy said that he will volunteer for Morgan's Wonderland and he plans to go as a penguin.  Mary Denton said that she will also be volunteering and will be going as a Grandma again this year. Unnamed hecklers were heard to say "Again?"

Gold Raffle Report
Fred Tarbell thanked everyone who worked on the Gold Raffle Drawing. Sydney of MINI of San Antonio already told her boss she wants to host the Gold Raffle Drawing again next year!
Fred also gave a Shout Out to the Kendall Robotics Team for their participation. They helped not only with the Raffle Drawing - they also stayed afterwards and helped clean up! Their sponsor is Kathleen Gately and she has brought the team to some of our meetings.
Rick Tarbell also gave a shout out about this year's Gold Raffle Drawing. He would like to see more people involved - more people selling tickets, more diversity, more people stepping up.  Thank you Fred Timmons and Rick Rhodes for all your hard work!

Pancake Supper Report
Bruce Richter commended the ISA Interact Club for "hitting the ground running" and they worked very hard.
Ken Ruiz commented that he paid for his last year of college education doing pots and pans. Ken worked closely with the students, teaching them tips & tricks on the art of pot washing!

Humor from Fred
Now that the season is underway, here are some 'footballisms" to help you appreciate the game!
"Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble the football." John Heisman
"I make my practices real hard because if a player is a quitter, I want him to quit in practice, not in a game." Bear Bryant/Alabama
"It isn't necessary to see a good tackle, you can hear it!" Knute Rockne/Notre Dame
"At Georgia Southern, we don't cheat. That costs money, and we don't have any." Erik Russell/Georgia Southern

Umbrella Time
Derek Matthys, who owns the umbrella this month, was not at the meeting today so Ken Ruiz spoke on his behalf. Both Ken and Derek were at the last happy hour and had a chance to visit. Ken said that Derek is a good family man. Derek vows to "sell more Gold Raffle tickets next year!" Derek's winning bid for the umbrella goes towards his Paul Harris Fellowship.  He is also fine free as long as he owns the umbrella.

Show Low Record Pot!
As the Show Low pot continues to increase, excitement is building at our meetings!  Today the pot is $1,025 - a record!  Mary Denton owned the first ticket drawn for a chance to take it all home. She picked a card from the dwindling deck and as luck would have it, she drew the king of hearts.  She donated the Merlot to our speaker today.  Ken Ruiz owned the second ticket drawn and took home the Chardonnay.
Vice President John Legris said that this week's wine selections both hail from Texas vineyards.  One is another wine from the Sister Creek vineyard, a Chardonnay and from Messina Hoff, a Merlot.

With only 7 cards left, the pot grows to a record high of $1,050 next week!

Thank you Fred Timmons for donating the wine for the month of October!
