Thoughts for Today from Secretary Mary Denton

For posterity I thought it might be good to publish some kind of bulletin for events that have affected us this month.  The COVID-19 coronavirus epidemic has resulted in city, state and national guidelines about prohibiting meetings of 10 or more. Our Board decided to not meet for March 18 and 25th and will stay connected with membership to find out what we can do for each other.  You will be notified when it safe to meet again.

How This is Affecting Us

The Rotary International Convention in Hawaii has been postponed. Many notices have been sent from our leadership to let us know the status of events and measures we must take to keep ourselves safe and healthy.  To read more about Rotary's Role in Battling Coronavirus please click HERE.  "We are dealing with this situation in real time. Please visit the rotary.org COVID-19 response page for ongoing updates."

Locally, restaurants, bars, theatres, movie houses anywhere people congregate have been shut down. Fiesta has been postponed. The NBA season was cancelled and postponed. Churches have closed their doors. Schools are closed now for weeks with the possibility to doing classes online.  Doctor visits are now being done virtually. Grocery store shelves have become bare. Essentials like toilet paper, salt, and eggs and many other items, when they are available, are being rationed due to hoarding.  Some businesses have needed to lay people off. People are scared. We are in a little bit of a shock and trying to cope with all this.

We Got This!
Please bear with us as we navigate through this time and remember to keep wearing your pin! Keep talking about Rotary and inviting your friends and colleagues to our meetings when it is safe to do so.  Keep people in mind for speakers and give the speaker committee their info so that they can reach out to them.  We will meet again in person soon! Life will go on.  We are just in a different place right now.

Please let any of the board members know of any needs or concerns that you have during this time.  Also let us know about anyone who we might be able to help.  Let's keep focusing on Serving Others Above Self safely through facebook, emails, and calling.   Stay positive!

Remote Meetings with Zoom

Currently we are working out the logistics to have remote meetings through Zoom.  This allows us to attend meetings remotely either with your smartphone or laptop. More information will be shared as things develop.

We Miss You!

We miss seeing you, our friends, at our weekly meetings! Stay positive and hug your children and grandchildren. Take more long walks. The parks are still open so take a picnic and enjoy nature!

Thank you for your Rotary service!
