Prayer, Pledge and Visitors
The meeting opened with the ringing of the bell by President Rick Tarbell. Vice President John Legris led us with a prayer and the pledge. VP John also introduced our Speaker Kent Miller and his lovely wife Barbara.  Also our guests, Assistant District Governor Jackie Parsons, Dave Jauer of the Northwest Rotary Club and John Schopp, guest of Fred Timmons.
Fun fact:  John Schopp is a former member of OHRC!  He and President Rick were both pacing maternity ward floors one year - their daughters were born on the same day!

Vice President John Legris introduced our speaker, Kent Miller who is a member of the Northwest Rotary Club of Austin. Kent enjoyed a long ministry in the Presbyterian Church and is now retired from the ministry. He and his lovely wife Barbara have been married for 58 years. Kent joined Rotary in 1994. Kent said that he found us to be the "only club that features wine". He said, "(when traveling) before you leave (a town) you can find a Rotary Club and they HAVE to take you in."

John Legris commented about the wine offerings today: Blass Cassis Cabernet Sauvignon is from Australia. "Delicious!" he remarked.  Wilhelm Bergmann Riesling is from Germany. John shared that he enjoyed going to wine festivals while in Germany. (Nobody was surprised.)  President Rick Tarbell owned the first ticket drawn.  He was hoping to win the $925 pot! Unfortunately he drew the queen of spades.  He donated the Riesling to our guest, John SchoppBil Trodlier owned the second ticket drawn and took home the Cab.

Thank you Ken Donoughue for donating wine for the month of September!

Next week the pot will be $950!
