We learned that Ken Donoughue has been volunteering with the Pleasanton Rotary Club through the Pleasanton ISD feeding needy kids. They fed 164 kids on Monday and last week served 2800 meals.  Thank you Ken for volunteering and for your Rotary Service!

Discussion about changes to the club bylaws concerning Article 2, board of directors will increase to 7 members and Section 5, qualifications for president. A motion was made by Ken Donoughue to approve the changes and seconded by Barry Abrams. Motion passed.

There was other discussion about the board and committee chairs.

Announcements
President Rick made the following announcements:
Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the District Conference in Honolulu has been cancelled.

Vice President John Legris is busy lining up speakers for the month of May.

Humor
Past President Fred Timmons shared some humor about the toilet paper shortage (the struggle is real people!). Want ad: "Man with toilet paper seeks woman with hand sanitizer for good clean fun."

Many parents are now put in the role to homeschool their kids, "Two students suspended for fights, teacher suspended for drinking."

On This Day in History
President Rick Tarbell shared this one:

On this day in 1968, a crowd of nearly 10,000 watched as Claudia Alta "Lady Bird" Johnson, wife of President Lyndon Johnson, dedicated Padre Island National Seashore. It is the longest seashore in the national park system and encompasses a portion of the largest barrier beach in the United States.

The history of the park was long and contentious. Efforts to establish a state park on Padre Island began in 1936 but proved unsuccessful due to a struggle between public and private interests over ownership of the land.

Milestone in Club History
Due to the restrictions of social distancing due to the COVID-19 coronavirus epidemic, our club achieved a milestone in our history: we conducted our first virtual meeting with the ZOOM app!  We had 13 in attendance. There were no visitors and no speaker. There was also no umbrella time and no show low drawing. We will meet remotely until further notice.

Charter Member,  Past President, the  oldest member at 94 years of ago, our very own... Don Deal was also present during our Zoom Rotary Meeting.  Thank you Ken Ruiz for bringing Don to the meeting via your phone.  Ken also shared a photo of Don - it was truly a memorable time!

Prayer and Pledge
President Rick Tarbell opened the meeting and led us with a word of prayer and the pledges.

Past President Fred Timmons shared some humor:
It's ironic that red, white and blue represent freedom until they're flashing behind you...

Past President Fred Timmons shared that he was asked recently if we were taking college scholarship applications - we are.

Bil Trodlier asked that since there is a scarcity of masks for hospital personnel and essential workers if it would be possible for us to done some? Thank you, Bil, for thinking about the safety of these workers. The club will be given any updates.
