Club Meeting
The meeting began by President John Legris and with the ringing of the bell by Bruce Richter. Bruce Richter opened the meeting with a word of prayer and led the club with the pledges.

Club Luncheon and Business Program
Immediate Past President Rick Tarbell introduced our guest speaker, Becca McNitsky, Education Outreach Coordinator with Magdalena House.  She shared some of the statics of the people that they work with. Violence is the Leading cause of injury and death of women of childbearing age. During covid domestic violence calls to SAPD increased by 30%.

Club Luncheon and Business Program
Immediate Past President Rick Tarbell introduced our guest speaker, Connie Gonzalez. Connie is the Director of Strategy and Community Relations and oversees the Brooks Team. She was the weekend anchor in Fayetteville Arkansas and San Antonio.
She said that she is discovering the south side of San Antonio.  Brooks began as center for tech and research. It is only 10 minutes from downtown and is a mixed use community. Houses two international companies.  Treasurer Fred wondered if it would be possible for our club to hold an off site meeting there.  Connie welcomed our club to visit and any member who wishes to visit could enjoy a tour.

Club Business
President John shared some of the discussion from our board meeting last Thursday:
We plan to begin awarding 2 new nursing scholarships spring 2020-21
We voted to make a $250 contribution to Morgan's Wonderland halloween event this year. Due to covid restrictions this will be a "drive by" event. Various Rotary clubs will volunteer and decorate with a theme from different decades.
One of our goals this year is to join a virtual meeting with another club this year.

Gold Raffle Update
Gold Raffle Update by Treasurer Fred Timmons
So far $3900 has been deposited in raffle tickets sales.
Still have 45 tickets no one has taken.
Encouraged us to send emails asking for purchase of tickets.
People can pool their money to purchase a ticket if desired.
Immediate Past President Rick sent email and has been successful in selling.
“It takes everybody working together to sell and buy and few tickets”
The money used for scholarships and to support nonprofits and promote and help vets.
This is one of our most important functions of the year.
 
Confessions or Brags
Treasurer Fred received a nice check from Derek Matthys – he and his lovely wife Sheila celebrated their anniversary in August.
Derek announced that his daughter Erin graduated from Texas A&M Kingsville with a masters degree in petro physics
 
Volunteer Committee
Bruce Richter will contact Meals on Wheels for volunteer opportunities
Community Service Committee members are Allyson Hamlin and Secretary Mary Denton
